From the desk of Payments Product Manager, Rinske van der Bijl, comes this summary of our latest Solution Updates. Read about her view on observability, the latest in our PayShap Request offering, and learn how it is easier than ever to expand your VAS portfolio.

Dear Electrum Community

We’re excited to share the latest solution updates for three of our core solutions: Clearing House Payments, Enterprise Payments Channel, and Value-Added Services. We’ve introduced powerful enhancements that will deepen integration, unlock new capabilities, and provide greater control for our technical and business clients.

Observability as a philosophy

In the first half of 2025, we placed a strong focus on maturing our PayShap services, expanding beyond channel and BankservAfrica gateway messaging to incorporate advanced processing with core banking systems, including reservations, voids, and postings.

But what will set you up for success - and where we’ve doubled down on - is observability. We believe that great payment systems empower operators, developers, and business stakeholders with real-time, actionable visibility into their environment. That’s why we are introducing a suite of operations dashboards, enabling your teams to monitor transaction processing volumes with success rates, failure rates, and processing states at a glance.

In parallel, our business insights dashboard provides high-level views into volume and value trends, giving product managers and executives the tools and data they need to steer strategic decision-making.

This combination of technical depth and business-level observability ensures that our platform processes payments reliably, while giving clients complete clarity and confidence in the system.

Milestones for corporate clients

In our Enterprise Payments Channel, we’ve unlocked a major milestone for corporate clients: the ability to initiate PayShap Request (request-to-pay) transactions, both individually and in bulk.

This is the first time corporate clients can initiate collections directly via their bank on a real-time rail without needing to fall back on the EFT system.

This new capability opens up opportunities for faster receivables and streamlined customer engagement, especially for businesses that manage high transaction volumes or offer recurring services.

More partners and more possibilities with VAS

Our extensive VAS platform continues to grow in reach and relevance. We’ve expanded our Prepaid Airtime and Data, Prepaid Electricity and Money Transfer integrations with service providers, enabling our bank and retail clients to offer even more options to their customers.

These enhancements make it easier than ever to embed value-added services across your channels, growing customer engagement and broadening revenue streams.

Looking ahead

Over the next six months, we’ll continue to evolve our platform with a focus on strategic maturity that enables you to provide additional value to your customers. Our PayShap services will be enhanced to support upcoming industry features like account resolution, while our EFT offering will benefit from improved operational tooling to streamline day-to-day support.

Although the RTC scheme is expected to be sunsetted in the coming years, we’re continuing to invest in our solution’s maturity. This includes the addition of core banking processing to ensure ongoing reliability for clients who depend on it.

In the Enterprise Payments Channel, we’re building functionality for corporate clients to initiate and process refunds for completed PayShap Request payments, as well as simplifying bulk collections through a new streamlined API.

These updates reflect our ongoing commitment to delivering reliable, innovative, and transparent payment solutions. We’re excited about what’s ahead and remain focused on helping you stay ahead in a rapidly evolving payments landscape.

Yours in Modernised Payments,

Rinske and the Electrum Team
